Como institucién privada, celebrd en la noche del dia 27 una Cena Martiana, que tenia todo el si bolismo de una comunién espiri- tual. Asi se honraba la memoria de aquel gran hombre que luché ¥ murié en Dos Rios, por darnos; patria y ciudadania libre. A este acto concurrieron un gran mimero de personas, aproximada- mente, ochenta. El eminente Pro- fesor universitario de La Habana, Dr. Pablo F. Su oraciéu en ese acto, fué de una grandeza espiritual extraordi- nariaria y revelando un concien- zudo estudio de la vida y obras del Apostol de nuestra libertad. Demostré con frases emotivas el Dr. Lavin, que no han deg encon- trarse en idioma alguno, vocablos capaces de expresar la inmen: grandeza espiritual de José Mai Nos hablé de Marti, como or: dor, como poeta renovador de la poesia castellana, segin palabras del inmortal Ruben Dario. El amo entrafiablemente este rincén floridano y lo escogiéd para concebir y redactar aqui, una de las paginas mas gloriosas de su labor revolucionaria.
