Recordar, es querer todavia. A los que vivimos en este querido Cayo los dias inol- vidables de nuestras contiendas libertarias, el recuerdo de aque- los tiempos, parece que prende perfumadas siempre -vivas en nuestro corazén. Y sin poderlo evitar, como en un desfile mila- groso, van pasando por nuestra mente las personas, las fechas y los acontecimientos, poniendo a manera de una luz en nuestro es- piritu, que nos conforta y reani- ma, frente a las duras realidades del presente. Cémo no recordar aquellas tardes de La Brisa, cuando la gran familia cubana, acudia a es- cuchar la misica amable que nos ofrecian aquellos inolvidables amigos, entre los que se encon- traban, muy principalmente, Mr. Dillon y el siempre bien recorda- do Perfecto Ayala? . . . Despues de aquellas tardes dons el es- piritu parecia tener todo el mila- Jrero perfume de la amistad y de la concordia, casi todos, ve- nian en los antiguos carros eléc- tricos, manejados por Manolo Ca- mus y el viejo Lépez, rumbo al lugar que los cubanos graciosa- mente lamabamos “mantecanj- ne.” que no era otra cosa, que el establecimiento que el bondadoso Alfredo Lucignani poseia en Du- val, donde ahora est& parte de la tienda de Pearlman. Alli, apura- bamos los helados y entre charlas amistosas y chistes de buena ley, surgian compromisos amorosos y amistades que se han conservado incélumes, a través del tiempo y del espacio. Otras veces, afios mas tarde, era el Club Atlético el lugar de reunion de nuestra juventud. Alli, entre refrescos y helados, se bailaba y disipaban las penas.
