LXXxIV : Monroe Hospital Valuation For Insurance Up $170,0000 ‘ALBURY REPORTS NEW VALUATION TO COMMISSIONERS Monroe General Hospital’s valua- tion for insurance nas. increased trom $114,972 to $354,972, on the building alone, Hospital Adminis- trator Willard Albury told County Commissioners this week. ‘The old insurance policy of the hospital valued the county’s hos- pital at $240,000 less than the new one, Other increases in insured valuation are the contents of the hospital now valued at $50,000. Formerly they were insured for $8,068, The boilers’ valuation in the hospital was increased from $20,000 to $50,000. Insurance on the Chevrolet truck acquired by the hospital in Dec- ember includes $100,000 liability on zach person; $200,000 on each ac- tident and $5,000 on property. The new insurance, taken with Key West Insurance company was proved by the County Commis- sioners meeting as the Hospital board. - Albury,then reported the gifts made retently to the hospital by ‘he Woman’s Hospital Auxiliary. Mishap WASHINGTON w — A runaway passenger train smashed through a barrier and into the concourse at Union Station today and “quite a few” people were reported in- jured. The Pennsylvania Federal express from Poston hit a newsstand in the center of the concourse. The concrete floor col- lapsed, and the electric locomotive and one car plunged through to a basement There was no immediate word on the number injured but a station spokesman described it as “a ser ious affair.” Police Supt. Nearly 60 employees of the City Electric System will become Union workers in the near future, it was revealed at the Tuesday afternoon meeting of the Utility Board. At that time, four employees of the company along wita two out of town union officials met with the board members to discuss a con- tract which is in the process of being negotiated. Negotiations are proceeding smoothly according to company officials after the union men pre- sented a tentative contract for the consideration af the board. A forty hour week and a retire- ment plan are among the chief Provisions of the contract. The Utility Board pointed out that they have already made initial plans for the start of such a program. They have included money in the budget for retirement — benefits, they said. The next step in the negotiations is a meeting between the company management and the union to work out details of “job classifications” and rates of pay. The planes are expected to trickle in from the Cuban Capitol throughout the day on the return leg of their an- nual trek which started in Miami Tuesday. Both Coast Guard and Civil Aeronautics Administration _ offi- cials reported that the mass flight was without incident. The entire flight is scheduled to land in Key West today after most of them had: by-passed the city Tuesday on their flight from Mia- j mi. The U. S. Customs and Immi- gration Departments maintained special facilities at the airfield to expedite inspection of the planes as they arrived. Many of the pilots are expected io remain in the city overnight or longer. They arrived in Havana on Tuesday and spent two days there in a round of sightseeing activities. As a feature of the flight pro- gram, the “Queen” of the Flori- da Air Pilots Association was slated to arrive in Key West: aboard a twe engine CAA plane piloted by Aviation Safety E. J. Ullrich of Miami. Meanwhile the Coast Guard and the CAA maintained a close check on the progress of the huge group of private planes participating in the flight. Wilke was in charge of the CAA unit while Lt. Commander B. F. Engel directed the Coast Guard operations. In addition, two Coast Guard planes, a huge flying boat and a helicopter patrolled the route of the flight. They landed at Meac- ham field this morning.: Two Coast Guard vessels, the Nemesis out of Miami and Key West’s Ariadne are at sea to, per- form any necessary rescue work, However, aviation officials em- phasized that past records have shown that there is iittle danger of mishap in the 90 mile flight be- tween there and Havana. All of the pilots are experienced and their planes are in top shape, they said. The weather for the flight this morning was reported as “near perfect.” Flying time for the 90 miles varies from 45 minutes to slight- ly more than an hour depending jupon the type of plane, authori- ties said.
