So McCullough, a large cotton plantation owner, set out on one last glorious fling. Not a thing in the world to worry about. Life on a lavish scale with money flowing like wind through his fingers to back up the jaunt! When he reached 80, he went off for another “last fling,” this time by plane to Mexico and South America. It lasted three good years, When he got back to the United States, he still had time on his hands and money stacked in the Dank for another “‘last fling.” And ‘nother. And still another. Then one day came the startling Tealization for McCullough that he had time but no money left. Sixteen months ago the last trickle of the million dollar fortune had slipped away, and McCullough faced life anew-on a $50 a month eld age pension. “My one mistake was that I outlived my money,” McCullough said not so long ago, ‘‘but it’s an error I’m going to go on making just as lone as I can.” At long last, of course, death had its day.
