At a late hour there was no report of any wreckage or trace of the pilot. being sighted. The search was conducted en @ reduced scale throughout the night with Naval planes scouring the seas for flares which the flyer might have sent up. The pilot disappeared at 11:55 p. m. Monday without any warn- ing. A fellow pilot. from the Fleet All Weather Training Unit, te which the missing flyer was attached, reported that he had last seen Skomsky as he flew in- to a cloud formation. The plane did not réappear, he seid. The position of the mishap was set at 70-miles southwest of the Boca Chica Naval Air Station and 20-miles north of Havana. Lt. Skomsky, who was a veteran of eight years in the Navy, was graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1949. He was designated a Naval Aviator in Pensacola this year. The missing flyer's wife, Mrs. Dorothy Harmer Skomsky and two children Jo Anne, 2 and Stephen, 10 months, live in Sigsbee Park. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steph- Sr. reside at 10 Circuit Court Judge Aquilino Lopez, Jr., sternly chided the Monroe County Grand Jury today for inviting Key West reporters to attend this morning's session, and read them the law which, he said demands complete secree cy of all proceedings.
