Harris Drew of West Palm Beach won the election for Florida State Supreme Court jus- { tice this morning after his opponent | Miami Circuit Court Judge Vincent | C. Giblin conceded the victory at 8:15 a. m. Giblin had carried Monroe coun- ty by 596 votes to 468 in one of the lightest polls in history. He conceded the victory to Drew while he was still 294 votes in the lead. At 11:30 a. m. however, Drew had pushed ahead of Giblin by 67, 710 to 61,255 in 1,550 of the 1,683 pre- eincts. Giblin’s wire to Drew said: “An, analysis of returns indicate your nom: ion. Congratulations.” In conceding the election of his opponent Giblin made the following statement; “Quite naturally, Y am keenly disappointed. My hopes were based on an anticipated larger vote in my home county (Dade) which un- fortunately did not materialize. “Nevertheless the Dade Counti- ans who did vote paid me a mar- velous tribute by the splendid ma- jority they gave me. I only wish that more of my friends had gone |to the polls because they would have insured a victory for me and for the objectives I sought to at- tain. “I feel, however, not the slight- est bitterness or resentment. To- morrow I shall begin another day with the determination to continue the fight which I have begun. “Once the people know and un- derstand the conditions which I am striving to correct they will join me in sufficient numbers to make it possible to achieve the pos which I have envisioned— a better istration of justice Earlier ‘today,-.
