Cuban Girl Held Upon Arrival At Meacham Field Gala Cruz, 28, of Havana, Cuba, was detained this morning by im- migration authorities at Meacham Airport upon her arival here from the Cuban Capitol. The reason for her detention was to establish her intent in coming to this country. Under the terms of her visitors visa, she would not be permitted to do any work while in the United States, Miss Cruz came to Key West in the company of Tony Carlyle, na- tionally known theatrical impressa- rio, who employed her as a maid while in Havana, However, Car- lyle said that the girl came to this country just for a two weeks’ vacation and that he had no inten- tion of employing her as a maid or in any other capacity. A hearing was set for this afters noon in the U. S. Immigration Of- fice in the Post Office. The Cuban girl speaks perfect English.
