A year ago, when they married, neither of them had time to leave their jobs. This year, Gomez brought his bride to Key West to see his birthplace and hometown. j “Our old home is at 630 United st. It’s in need of care and reno- vation now. Most of Key West has certainly built up within the last four years. I came here,” Gomez mused, “in 1948 and the real build- ing had just begun. Why when I walked over on White street, I felt as if I were in a strange city, it was so unfamiliar. The biggest change are the housing projects and of course the fact that the ” | street-cars are no longer with us. Transfer Corner was the spot where we used to stand and pass the time of the day. It’s now the corner of White and Division. . .I mean Truman Avenue. Flagler Avenue was known as the County Road. But Duval, I’m thankful to | ly. say, hasn’t changed much. I real- ly felt at home as I walked down the main street. Oh, a few modern buildings, are added but the older homes and places of business are the same.” Asked if he intended to do any fishing while on vacation, Gomez laughed heartily. “Did you ever see a real Conch who went fishing for nothing? It’s work to Conchs, not just play. And as for eating fish, my wife doesn’t like it and I hag enough of it when I was a boy. We used to go out on the shoals and get edible varities like yellow- - | tail and red snapper. My wife and I like turtle steak and Florida lobs- ter, crayfish, that is, but that’s about the extent of our seafood tastes.” Leo Gomez is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Gomez. His two brothers, Will and Harry - | and their families still live here, and Leo has been making periodic visits to Key West for over twenty- five years. This time, he took the - | bus trip from Cleveland leaving May 30 and stopping over in St. Augustine, Fla., to take in histori- . | cal spots which Mrs. Gomez had never seen before. “We've been. sight-seeing here, too,” Gomez said, “and although I’m a Key Wester by birth, I find - | myself in the tourist class due to the remarkable change and growth of the city.” Mr. and Mrs. Gomez are stop- ping at the Ocean View apartments and will remain here until next Thursday, before returning to their - |home, 2029 East 83rd street, in a | Cleveland. nightgown on the living room floor and a trail of bleod leading from a bedroom. They also found an eight-inch knife on the kitchen table, Sapp added. A physician said he had not yet "| made a definite diagnosis of Mrs. " | Csucsai’s illness and she was to have had chest X-rays later in the day. The couple had lived in the neighborhood only six months but neighbors said they “had lots of mostly Hungarians like themselves.” Neighbors told Sapp that Cscusai appeared in a daze when he re- Ported to them that he'd killed his wife and the detective said | Csucsai still was in an incoherent ; and shocked conditions hours after The couple began shouting at | each other in their native Hungar- | fan and Cruesai stabbed his wife | twice in the right breast with a Dutcher knife. Neighbors summoned Policemen A. W. Abaira and W. C. Matheson, who found the woman lying in her the stabbing.
