Left to right in the picture are: Oscar Morales, Cuban Consul to Key West; Guillermo Gener, one of the Editors of Prensa Libre, and Isaac Astudillo, a Prensa Libre photographer. They have found all the allegations regarding the demolition of Cuban property entirely untrue and intend to * publish this denial of those statements Editor Gener commented: that before coming here he had an entirely different impression, but after seeing the work on the building, and of the San Carlos School, he is much impressed with its value and benefit to Cuba as well as San Carlos. He was also much impressed with the energy, sincerity and unselfish efforts on the part of the directors of San Carlos. They are particularly to be commended on the excellent new lease, and the amount of modern “reno- vating” being done at the expense of the new lessees. S. political overtones, Gen, Dwight D. Eisenhower today turned over his command of Allied Defense Forces in Europe to Gen, Matthew B. Ridgway. High officers of supreme head- quarters of the North Atlantic Treaty allies and a French dele- gation headed by Defense Minister Rene Pleven witnessed the brief ceremonies on SHAPE’s front lawn. Eisenhower, who is leaving Sat- urday for the United States as a candidate for the Republican presi- dential nomination, turned to Ridg- way and said: “It is now my proud duty to turn over to you the finest headquarters I have ever seen. The task is yours.” Ridgway, a four star general fresh from the Korean War, ac- cepted with “a sense of deep pride and privilege.” His arrival here was the signal for Communist-led rioting in Paris and elsewhere in France. In Ger- many the Communists were in- creasing pressure on the Western Allies to underscore Soviet anger over the signing of the peace con- tract with Western Germany and the treaty which approves a six- nition European army. But Ridgway said of his SHAPE command: “In this organization there is no aggressive intent. It has only creative intent.” Welfare Board Supervisor Leaves State Welfare Board Supervisor, Mrs. Blanche Miller leaves Key West after some eight months as the local supervisor of the State Board's Welfare Bureau.
