Izbinski, was transferred today to the Commander, Service Forces of the Atlantic. He has been attach- ed to the Ships Department of the Naval Station, Key West, since November 30, 1950. Izbinski reported aboard from recruit training at Great Lakes. Born in Meadville, Pennsyl- vania, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. ~ | John Izbinski still reside there, at 1140 French Street. Before entering the Naval service, Izbinski graduated from High School in Meadville. He was active in the Key Club, Latin Club, YMCA Leaders , Corps and the Order of the Ar- row. The custom of taking scalps from victims in war was origin- ally practiced by only a few tribes of American Indians but was spread to others by the prac- tice of white governments which offered bounties for scalps.
