No. 68 Sutton May Not Testify Before Judge Lawyer Hints “The Actor” Will Remain Silent On $64,000 Holdup Charge NEW YORK @®— Willie (The Actor) Sutton may make his cur- rent role, as defendant in a 1950 bank robbery trial, strictly one of silence. His attorney hints he may not. testify. And, despite a court ruling, it appears that he will have to share top billing with the ghost of the young man who identified him for police—slain Arnold Schuster. Sutton and Thomas Kling, 45, both notorious bank robbers and jail breakers, went on trial Tues- day in a $64,000 holdup of a branch of the Manufacturers Trust Co., in the borough of Queens. Queens County Judge Peter T. Farrell ruled the Schuster slaying has “absolutely no connection” with the defendants and “is not | an issue.” But the murder crept. into the proceedings a number of times. The judge made the ruling while defense attorneys were questioning Prospective jurors, one of whom was excused when. he mentioned the Schuster slaying. George, Washington Herz, one of | Sutton’s attorneys, also asked the talesmen if they would be “prej- udiced against this defendant if he |A Year’s Time In Little Battery | | (®) Wirephoto THE SMALL CAPSULE to which smiling girl points tweezcr contains. enough energy to run the new electric wristwatch for one entire year. McKinney told a news confer- ence the Korean situation is a “paramount” factor in Mr. Tru- man's consideration. And he said his own opinion, on conversations with the President, is that “his decision will be predicated on the success or failure of resolving the Korean situation satisfactorily.” McKinney added that personally, if he had undertaken a job of such importance as Korea, and it was accomplished, he would feel that jhis job was done. | McKinney has just completed two of talks with Mr. Tru- The .ot..Key Wes? | we BA M a \ i OURS RE ERE ALE SSSI A perfect Key West weather, | He did not take . his eus- that Mr. Tru- The task of selecting a jury con-| out. j tinues today.
