NEWS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN VOROTHY RAYMER, Society Editor Monroe County Jur Members Report At Council Meetin At the meeting of the Monroe County Junior Red Cro: cil held Thursday afternoon of last week at the 1 Elementary School, Junior Red Cross elementary and secondary schools activities carried on by the Junior Red Cross Key West High School has receiv- ed two correspondence albums from foreign countries: One from a school in the Hawaiian Islands, another from a school in South Africa. The Junior Red Cross mem- bers in the High School plan to pre- Pare albums in reply to these which have been received this year. Poinciana Elementary School’s Junior Red Cross members are re- plying to a correspondence album received from a school in New Zea- land. Throughout the schools holiday. favors are being prepared by ele- mentary school children for use in the Naval Hospital, Monroe County Hospital, and the County homes for white and Negroes. Schools partici Pating in this project are Harris Elementary School, Truman Ele- mentary School, Poinciana Ele- mentary School, Convent of Mary Immaculate, St. Peter's School and Douglas School. Girl Scouts of Key West have made comfort items and holiday favors for the hospitals All schools. in Key West and the Marathon School reported an ex- cellent enrollment in Junior Red Cross during the enrollment per- iod in November. Funds received will be used for the National Child- rens’ Fund, Local Junior Red Cross activities, and for paying the expenses of a county representa- tive to a National Junior Red Cross Camp. \ Excellent films on First Aid and | Water Safety have been received by Mrs. Carola Nett executive secretary of the Key West Chap- | ter, American Red Cross, at the | request of local Boy Scout Troops.
