Teacher We had a very informal talk with Miss Hughes at the gym in the old Comm Building. This was during one of her smaller classes in the early afternoon. Miss Hughes was born in Waukee, Wisconsin in 1927 fended four different high sch amd graduated from Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, Missouri She went to the University of Missouri and majored in physical education. In college, she f om the varsity basketball team was on the swimming, volley ball and hockey teams. The rest of her time, which was very little she spent in studying. Miss Hughes taught physical ed ueation at Wittenberg, Wisconsin before coming to West. She enjoys working in Key West High and likes the Key West weather. Among her plans for the girls at Key West High are intramurals | and a basketball varsity team. The art committee dal, Roy Butler, Richard Gardner, Nancy Watkins, and Joan Crusoe, is at work on the theme which the staff chose at the last meeting. Mr, Lane, art instructor, is help- ing them with new ideas. The book Exiquio Vi is being dedicated to a faculty mémber whose name will of course be kept secret. ' Evans Studio is in charge of photography, and many senior pic- tures have already been taken. The girls are wearing black drapes | and the boys white coats.
