The sameness, day in and j day oft, palle on you; you don’t know what to do with yoursélf, and whatever you do leaves you dissatisfied. You may say a man has his work to do and keeps himself occupied in doing it. That is true. Work is our greatest blessing. But man gets a little out of life if he merely works and eats and sleeps. He must have diver- sions to keep him interested, even though they may be chiefly.as a spectator. What kind of country would we have if we didn’t have gports? And how does Key, West now line up with the rest of the country in providing for sports? Key West’s position now, in the‘matter of sports, is far better than it ever has been. Let's consider first our publie.tennis courts. Up to a few months ago, we had only two stich courts, both in Bayview Park. But we now have seven, or soon will have them, publi¢ courts: .The two in Bayview Park will be improved’ and a third one constructed; three are at Monroe County. Beach, and A. Maitland Adams will build a court in Poineiana, The Citizen commends the City-and County Commis- sioners and Mr. Adams in providing this source of recrea- tion for the people of Key West. While only a compara- tively few will play, hundreds will bé interested in seeing them play. It is @ wholesome pastime that helps to.brush court: aside the humdrum in life. But tennis is only one of a series of sports that may be played or witnessed by residents. When the stadium is finished, baseball, football, basketball.and softball. will be played there, Here again The Citizen commends the City Commissioners for their decision’ to provide a stadium that isa eredit to the community life in Key West. Let us consider the municipal golf course on Stock Is- land. We know of many Key Westers who play golf only once or twice a week, yet they look forward, with an abid- ing sense of eagerness, to the day or days’on which they will make the rounds of the course. Yes, one of the blessings of life is to be able to look ‘d to do something we like to do. forwa Life’s Little Lesson: The more money you get the more fou need.
