Gives Home Owners 25* Tax Cut —____—-_—-* Non-Homestead Property Raised 4.1% Because Of Hospital Tax Homestead owners should re- joire today. City commissioners have ap- proved a 25% tax cut -for-them. But owners of non-homestead property will pay 4.1% more than they did in 1951. Actually nonhomestead owners would have received w tax cut but funds allocated by the State Legislature for the Monroe Gen- in millage. The two mills levied for the hos- pital will bring in $28,000. Eight percent of the millage set last night will go towards main- tenance of the local hosptal. In 1950, total millage was 24. This year it will be 25. The day of the homestead-ex empt property paying no taxes whatsoever is fast becoming «a reality.
