WASHINGTON, April 8—(@). ae —The heat seems to be on again in the European trouble spot of Trieste. Italy fired the first verbal at- tack today in a speech aimed Squarely at the United States, Britain and France. When the Italian Foreign Minister warned that Italy would not give up her claim to’Trieste, he summed up fears that have been growing in his country for months. Both the United States. and Britain went on record two yei ago that the whole free territory of Trieste ought to gol to Italy. There were two reasons for that statement coming’ as: it did-on'the eve of the’ Italian elections. One was to tight the mistake made the year beforé in creating the so-called’ Interna- tional Zone of Trieste that: never had the slightest chance ‘of funt: tioning. The second- reason: was’ to help the anti-Communists win over the Reds in the Italian eee? tions of April, 1748, Russia of course turned ses proposal down cold.
