And there are few buildings in Key West that are not in need of a coat of paint, Indeed, it would take two or more coats to paint properly hundreds of weather-beat- en buildings in Key West. As for yards, everybody is in a pesi- tion to keep his grounds in good condition. Not only should weeds be pulled up but grass, flowers or shrubs should be planted in the places made bare’ by pulling up weeds, However humble a home may be or however small a lot'may be, paint will make the house mere attractive and. the lot can be beautified with ornamental plants, which grow readily in Key West. The city government can do much to provide additional conveniences and at- tractions for touri Several months ago it was said that the city intended, to im- prove more streets. If the money is avail- able, no time should be lost in beginning work on some of the many strets, in the heart of the city, that are filled with ruts. It is true that streets daily are being patch- ed, but the condition of some of them is so bad they need scarifying, rolling and as- phalting. The Citizen does not consider it amiss to refer again to the $10,000 the city has announced it has as a nucleus to improve the Garrison Bight. The three commission- ers who were elected on November 8 de- clared, time and again, during their cam- paign, that they favored improving the bight. Why not use the $10,000 to build a few small piers and, with the money left over, to dredge in the vicinity of the piers?
