Mail The Citizen to Relatives Restoration of Electricity | In Event of Hurricane | When a hurricane hits Key West, the power and light eireuits are kept in service until they automatically free themselves from the load because of wire being blown down, short circuited or grounded, or until the situation becomes dangevous to life and property, in which case all eire vemoved from service. are Restoration of services requires that each circuit be in- spected in its entirety before the line is again energized When the power is turned on again some houses and busi- nesses will immediately receive service, while others will be without lights because of transformer trouble or defcetive primary or service wires. The line erews strive to give service to hospitals, doc- tors, city sump* pumps, ice plant, business area, dairies, per- ishable food installations and schgols as quickly as possible. In some cases we are unable to restore service to individual or isolated power failures because of the time required to restore such service. Judgment is exercised to correct the trouble that will give the greater number of people service. Work is then started on the restoration of isolated eases of trouble. This explains why both your adjoining neighbors may have lights, yet the house in between has none. This utility regrets that everybody cannot be the first to receive re and that someone must be the last. We urge that patie be exereised as every employec of the City Electric System will strive to restore your service as quickly and safe- ly as possible, Remember, in all eases of fallen wire or wires on poles -—~DO NOT TOUCH THEM or try to move them as he energized, ey may City Electric System
