In November 1944 he visited the front lines as a tutor of inspection and also vis- ited England at the invitation of the Government of that country. In 1943 General Dutra came to the United States as an_ offi- cial guest of the United States Government. During that visit he toured the country’s principal war plants and military training camps, and received from the hands of General Marshall the Legion of Merit decoration in the degree of commander.
