MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1947 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN ‘Absurd’ To Stop I Beauty Culture Work In Homes TALLAHASSEE, Dec. 15.—At- torney General J. Tom Watson called it “absurd” for the secre- | tary of the state board of beauty culture to attempt to prohibit women from doing their own shompooing- and manicuring at home. -He.declared that the state board of beauty culture does not have the legal right to threaten women with fines or prison; terms for giving friends or mem- bers of the family a shampoo, finger wave or manicure. He quoted a statement from the ex- ecutive director of the beauty culture board on that subject. Furthermore, he added, the beauty culture board in the per- | formance of its administrative | duties under the law has no au- thority to act as the legal inter- preter of that law.
