TEEN FEET OF WATER Three Navy fliers, operating out of Boca Chica Field, are missing today and presumed to be dead as the result of two airplane crashes last night. The body of one flier was recovered by the Navy early today | off Marqueses Key, but the body of the second in the first plane lost had not been recovered up to 2 p.m. In another plane, a fighter, the pilot who had gone out alone to search for the first one, a torpedo plane, is missing completely and a widespread search is still going forward for it. The body of the dead pilot of the torpedo plane was taken from a spot near where the wreckage of the ship was discovered near Marqueses Key. A tug towing a derrick was dispatched this morning from the Submarine Base to go to Marqueses Key to help in raising the wreckage of the torpedo plane. It was reported about 15 feet be neath the surface of the water. It is believed that the body of the other member of the crew is resting in the wreckage. A diver was to be sent from the Sub- marine Base to assist in raising the ship and zecoveune the body of the second man. Capt. O. E. Gouin, USN, commanding officer of Squadron DC- M2, to which the missing pilots were attached, said he had no direct information to give to the newspapers before the missing planes are recovered and studied. “I cannot reveal the names of the pilots who are missing until we know more about the situation,” said Capt. Gouin. “The next of kin of the missing pilots would first have to be notified. “We have found the wreckage of one plane at Marqueses Key. We have also found one body, and are continuing to search for the second man. “We also can state that another plane is missing. We are. at present searching for it.
