A man’s vote is not his own; i state and. county. he f a is a duty and not a right of c'tizenship. It is a weapon of sovereignty placed in his hands not merely to protect his own rights but to be used for the defense of his city’s or his country’s interest. If American citizens wish to preserve liberty, self-government and good government, they must be eternally vigilant and constantly politically watchful. iis! It is a serious responsibility to.be a citizen. We must use, protest, and cherish our duty as a voter. If we are to maintain a government of the people, by the peaple, for the people, we must vote. We can- not afford to be derelict in our duty. We must not be negligent about participation-in elections because today the men you elect affeets your daiiy life, your business, or occupation, even’ your moments of re- creation. : + The ballot is just as essential to keeping a good government an army and navy are in war time. Do not be indifferent—the greatest danger to a popular, efficient city government lies in the indif- ference and neglect on the part of the voters. Con- tribute your. share as a citizen by voting.
