Havana was the next stop on the dedication program. At 10:45 a. m., a little later than the same hour the maiden Clipper took wing 20 years ago—two giant four-engined Clippers roared in- to the air for the 90-mile flight to Havana, a trip of less than 30 minutes, in contrast to the 1927 time of an hour and a quarter. A corresponding monument was uneviled at Ranchos Boyeros Airport in Havana by Governor Caldwell, who stressed the fact that 20 or more daily Clipper flights between the Cuban capi- tal and Florida had brought the two nations closer together in friendship, culture and com- merce. Virtually every one of Key West’s leading citizens were on hand at Meacham Field before the ceremonies began.
