Ii weighs 1,609 pounds, contains 49,000 pieces and took 9.700 hours’ work. Guided by an inexpensive print, Burfitt used stones he gathered from as far away as San Francisco. Although it is his first big stone picture he has made many wood mosaics, becom- ing so interested he abandoned his business because it took up too much time.
