The group had no flashlights. How the boat @perator ever found the crawfish boxes in the dark will forever remain a mystery. “But we brought back dozens of large crawfish”, said one of the group afterward. “They were all larger than Conservation Agent Joe Knight would arrest ws for having.” Those who went on the trip were Thomas O. Other places with 75 per cent ratings weren't so proud of them and customers stayed away from them in droves. Spots that got.only 60 per cent were promptly closed by the city. This plan occurred to us the other day as we watched work- vying debris from a for- mer restaurant. The debris was alive with*vermin. It looked as though the restaurant had never been cleaned up by the former operator. We recalled the res- taurant used to look all right, but figured we had been wrong from the appearance of the litter being carted away. ORD Mammee sapota. That's the way it's spelled in a book relating to tropical fruit trees. But the Cubans call it mamey zapote. Anyway, only one of the trees, so far as is known, is now grow- ing fruit in Key West. It is just alongside the No. 3 fire hall in Grinnell street and the firemen say the fruit is delicious. But the tree was started 36 years ago here. And it did not bear fruit until it was 21 years old. Every May since it first started bearing, the firemen and their friends pick from about 60 to 240 of the fruit, which is shaped like an egg. The firemen say it tastes some- thing like the yellow-brown pa- paya, only it is sweeter and much more luscious. | STRAND THEATRE Now Showing “BRINGING UP FATHER” Joe Yule * Starting Thursday "WOMAN ON THE BEACH” Joan Bennett MONROE THEATRE Now Showing “ALLOTMENT WIVES” Kay Francis Starting Thursday “LAND OF THE LAWLESS” Johnny Mack Brown ODDS and ENDS Pras OLD CHINA HAND: AP Newsteatures K erage.
