The Cards will have Harry (The Cat) Brecheen pitching the after- noon game while Howie Pollet will get the call for the night contest. Manager Burt Shotten is picking Vic Lombardi for the dey game and Harry Taylor to hurl under the lights. The Cards sliced a full game off Brooklyn's lead yesterday by edging the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6 to 5 at Pittsburgh while Dutch leonard of the Philadelphia Mpillies was shutting out the Dodgers, 4 to 0, at Philadelphia. The Cards and Pirates played a scoreless tie in their second game, which was called after six inn- ings on account of wet grounds. The Dodgers and Phills played five innings to a 4-4 tie before the curfew law enforced a post- ponement. The Key West team lost by a score of 4 to 3 to a team representing the USS, Am- phion. The Amphion team tied the score in the eighth on an unearned run, and won it in the ninth with solid hitting.
