MONOGRAPHS Dear.Mr. President: We believe you have enjoyed your brief vaca- tion in Key West thoroughly, and we know that the people of the city’ would be pleased to have the privilege of waving farewell as you drive down Duval street, our main thoroughfare, on *Pyour way to the airport. Thank you, Mr. President. i Sincerely, THE ORACLE. —_—_— IDEAL ¢ pifeat that gtory about Col- el Thompson, who fre- ntly visited here in his seboat Everglades, de- Wing. as he stood on the >t tee at the local golf + cour r ae“ raeGcod Lord has nev- “@® giveti us a more pleasing y than this.” That brings to mind the pleasant weather that has prevailed in Key West since President Truman arrived last Sunday. Neither he nor anybody else could wish for a more genial temperature —snot too warm, not too thilly. ‘Ever since he has been here the mercury has risen and fallen oniy a few de- wrees. As a result of the al- mbst unchangeable tempera-. ture, a’ “good have made the rounds of the town about the weather. One of them is: “Don’t tip off the Presi- dent that’ we ordered this weather for him from Sears, Roebuck.” Of course, we are aware that the present climatic conditions are normal for Key West, the only frost- free city in the United States. Since the Weather jureau -was established in Key West in 1871, no frost has occurred in this city. Winter, as applied in Key West is a term, not a condi- tion. We have an occasional norther, during which the temperature may drop to the 60’s or 50’s. As a rule, those temperatures last two or three days, and the tem- perature climbs to the 70's again. And, while the President ix enjoying this really balmy weather, it should be remembered also that, as he is on a ship four miles long and a mile wide, and afchored 111 miles out in the sea, ozone is wafted shoreward, regardless of What pazt of the ship he on. Pleasant weather and a good place to rest — that’s what, Key West is to via All Grocers President or anybody else. Miss Rodriguez To Be Wed At Fleming Street Chureh Here Dr. and Mrs. Ramon S.
