At the regular meeting of Ar- ‘thur Sawyer Post No, 28, Amer- ican Legion, held last evening, a resolution was adopted relative to the Poinciana Place Housing Project crisis. The resolution, in effect. im- plores the National Housing Authority to continue to oper- ate the project in question in the same efficient, and, in all respects, exemplary manner as has been the case in the past. Should disposition be neces- sary, the resolution says, it should ;be delayed until proper legisla- tion is enacted to permit the units to be sold to members of this community in the following order (a) Individual veter- ans or occupants of the houses other teams of the Florida Inter-} directly without the necessity of national League, including such ; ; their dealing with any third par- well known stars as Pilo Baez, J. ! ty; (b) Corporations or other in- Mera, Maulin and Gonzalez. CRUCIAL SOFTBALL GAMES TONIGHT In tonight's City Softball League games the Bottle Cap Inn will tackle the Veterans of For- eign Wars. A victory will send the Machinists one full game ahead of the B-29 Jewelers who have two games to play, and must win both to claim the sec- end half honors. The Bottlers will probably start Hancock with Carbonell behind the plate, and the VFWs will start Arias with Jimmie Mira catching. In the second game the Amer- ean wanes of will play the third five-game: series the Jewelers. If | the | = win they will elininate the Legion, but if the Legion wins, the fourth game will have to be played. It is expected that Buster Roberts will be on the line for the Jewelers and » Tynes or Chester Harris for the Legion. POINCIANA COMMITTEE (Continued trom Page One) would not be able to get any more land in the Key West area te meet its housing needs. He #iso said that the local base would fet decide as to who would live there if it is acquired, such or- dere coming from Washington al- though key personnel would doubtlessly be allowed to retain their homes. He explained that if the Navy @id not take the project, NHA might dispose of it to a private real estate firm which might werk considerable hardship on the residents. Pepper then sug- @ested that if NHA could be con- tected the residents could. form ® real estate, development group and purchase the property them- selves. Consequently, the telegram wae sent to Wyatt, deemed es- peeially watchful of veterans’ imterests in housing matters. The Powder Puff SALON OF BEAUTY Announces...
