The Oak Ridge public relations office announced: The operation is similar to all laundry operations. The clothing is put into a revolving cylinder and washed in a specially pre- pared solution designed to re- move any radioactive material which might have clung to the| elothing. “Strength of the solution varies in the various plants. For in- stance, in the plutonium research | plant, the radioactivity is much| greater than in the plant concen- | trating U-235. “After the clothing has been washed and dried, devices which | detect radiation cheek the clothes. and if any radioactivity ; is. found the clothes are re-| washed.” More Unemployment Forbes magazine tells of youngster who liked his first day, at school and increased in his liking for it throughout the week, | so that when Friday came he was put out to learn from the teacher that there would be no school on Saturday or Sunday When he got home his mother asked him why he looked so de- pressed. “Darn it,” he complain ed, “I’ve been laid off for two days.” Ad lib (short for ad libitum means inserting lines not in the seript or score.
