' ATTAINING GOALS Four times recently The Citizen has published stories about the construction of piers and yacht basins at various places in the lower and upper chain of the Flor- ida Keys. What we need in Key West for the accommoda- tion of yachtsmen, and have thus far been unable to get beyond the talking stage in our efforts, residents else- where in the county have taken action’ to make the piers and basins a reality. At one time it appeared that a part of the Garrison Bight would be developed | for the accommodation of qachtsmen, but the proposal made to the county com- missioners and to the city councilmen “looked so good” as a money. producer, immediately opposition was organized against the man who had made the.proposal. Such declamations that the Garrison Bight was too precious a heritage to the IMPROVEMENTS KEY WEST ADVOCATED BY THE CITIZEN More Hotels and Apart- ments. 2 Meech end Bathing Pavilion 3 Alrporte---Land and Sea. 4 Consolidation of County and City & Community Governments. Hinge, in our opinion, is a comparatively mild form of gembling. Conducted by commercial operators, as it at fairs, carnivals and otter public events, one deubte whether the playing putiic has much chance to receive reasonable returns * money invested. Probably veterans organ- and churches would veterans’; people of Key West for/any part of it to be leased were heard, there and every- where in the city, as a re- sult of which the proposed developer was driven from the picture. . i The city was to. obtain acreage along the shore of the bight to develop it for the use of yachtsfhen, but | gradually that. activity died out and nothing further has been said about it for a good many months. And so it goes in this com- munity: just let it appear that anybody is going to earn money by making some} public improvement, and | you may be sure that ob- jectors will crop up in all parts of the city to kill the proposal. i And what is the result in this particular case? We biekered until we killed the project, whereas, in other parts of the county, resi- dents worked together to | benefit their communityjand | IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE BLE No. 10-725 : ; FORECLOSURE OF MORTGAGE || EDUARDO H. j ' LEGALS VENTH JUDIC OF FLORIDA, IN MONROE COUNTY, AL OL iT AND FOR IN CHAN- GATO, Jr., Plaintiff, versus STANLEY SURVIV.
