Asks Deaf Mate Alphabet Card Sale Be Stop ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. July 25.—(FNS)—Pointing out that the Florida Association for the Deaf does not sanction or ap- prove the sale of deaf-mute al- | phabet cards or the soliciting of alms, Henry S. Austin, secte- tary, urges public support in putting a stop to the practice. Investigation reveals that in some instances such cards are being peddled by persons who are neither deaf or mute, who prey on a_ sympathetic public and at the same time bring re- flection on all deaf people. The Florida Association at a recent convention voted to re- quest the next legislature to adopt a law similar to that of other states prohibiting the, ped- dling of deaf-mute alphabet cards and soliciting alms since it is obnoxious to the deaf and is a nuisance and imposition as far as the public is concerned.
