No. 102 Tojo, 27 Other J Tis Start In 30 PROSECUTOR HITS BRU- TAL WARFARE; CALLS EX-PREMIER OF NIPS ‘PLAIN MURDERER’ — (By Asnerated Press) TOKYO, April 29. — Japan's premier, at the time of its uncon- ditional surrender, Hideki Tojo, and 27 other Japanese leaders and warlords were indicted to- day as war criminals. They will be arraigned next Friday and their trial will begin in about a month, Chief Prosecutor Joseph Keenan said. In discussing the case, Keenan “Let us strip these men of the glamor that seems to have sur- rounded them because of their eonnection with their atrocious warfare and regard them for what they are—plain murder- ers.” He said further that, judging from the evidence he had ob- tained in investigating the cases against the 28, he will be able prove at the trial that they disregarded international law in the brutal type of war they con- ducted.
