Party boat fishing is an indus- try in Key West and it behooves |Key West to protect it. The oldtimers will -tell you ; there are mucn less barracuda in ithe adjacent waters than there J used to be.: Why? I am told that barracuda is very scarce around Miami where they used to be common. Why? Many of the present visitors come here from Miami to fish. Why? There is no better sport for the average fisherman than hooking and landing a. barracuda. After.a man has had two or three battles in one day he should be satisfied. but, no, he wants to i brag, so catches all he can, just to show off and nave his picture taken with them and after that it does not concern him if they are dumped into the bay io decay. Is there not some way to stop this shameful waste? Does not the state of Florida or the Federal Government have some control that would make ‘it an offense against the law, as well as an offence against common sense, to| |bring this great game fish in to |be destroyed and’ wasted? Could there not be a limit per person put on the catch? When I think of how many of our game fish and birds have been depleted in the north by the same methods, I, as an Isaac Walton League member, must protest} this destruction of these natural resources.
