HEATLY " DEPUTY SHERIFF MC- INNIS GIVES RESUME OF | SOME OF RESULTS oB-| TAINED _— Chief Deputy Sheriff McInnis said this morning that, in a good many cases, residents wait too long to report a crime, such as robbery or burglary, to the sheriff's office, and requested that in all such cases the sheriff be informed immediately. He pointed out that, in every | instance, where a car, stolen in Key West, was reported in time to the sheriff, the car was re- covered, and in one instance the sheriff succeeded in recovering a car after it had passed over the | toll bridges. “That was good fortune,” Chief McInnis said. “Though the! owner of the automobile waited | too long to report the theft, we! succeeded, through the Miami in locating the automobile in that city. | “Another late report of a theft, in which we were fortunate, cgn- ! cerned two negroes ‘who had. stolen a quantity of clothing and’ two watches in Key West, but we traced the bus on which they fled and had them arrested when they arrived in Tallahas: One of them was sentenced to a year’s’ imprisonment, and the other was turned over to the police in Ar- cadia for trial for a crime com- mitted in that city. “But those two cases are ex- ceptions, Our best chance for suc- cess is to be informed as soon as a crime is committed.” | \ Town Hall Meeting Held hast Evening — The Town Hall Coaneil held its second meeting at the County Court House last night with rep- resentation from fifteen local or- ganizations.
