The only tangible progress made by either branch came, when the house passed a bill to reapportion its own' membership on a basis of the 1945-census. It would take house sedts away from the North Florida counties of Madison, Su- wannee ‘and Putnam and move them south to Sarasota, Lee and| Brevard. Friction between North and South Florida factions in the house flared to new heights when the southern majority requested use of the house chambers for a closed caucus and some North Floridians objected to leaving their seats. They relented, how- ever, after some sharp debate and the caucus was held. Indications are the deadlock will continue and no one can pre- dict how long the extra session will last or what will be its out- come. SEVERAL REALTY In COURT “They put syrup in the liquid potash to make it stick.” That is what Genesis Braxton, negro policeman said about Eula! Lee Neil and Mildred Pickens, négresses, who were held this morning, in $500 bail each, for criminal court by Peace Justice Enrique Esquinaldo, Jr. The charge against them was for breaking and entering with the intent to commit aggravated esseult. The complainant, Bennic Lee Jenkins, negro, testified that he was asleep naked, and that the women entered his room and splashed him with iiquid potash from a beer bottle, the neck of whieh had been broken off. Jus Esquinaldo said that roe county have requested the |county commissioners to repair the road from the Dade county line to, that .village,. and on :the last occasion they asserted that 5,000,000 pounds of fish are caught in that vicinity annually. Now it appears that that road- way will be put in good con tion, as a result of its inclusion ‘in the list, published in yester- day’s Citizen, that the county commissioners have sent to the state road department as import- ant secondary roads in Monroe The road to Flamingo is in far | worse condition than any of the other four roadways the commis- |sioners have asked to be repaired at no expense to the county.
