April 21.—What wes styled here today as something of a birthday present to Hitler were three heavy raids the RAF carried out lest night in Germany. Berlin, Strettin and Rostock were the three German cities that were plastered by the Britigh bombers. The fast-flying, quick-maneuvering Mosquito bombers were used in blasting Berlin, and the four-motored “heavies” dropped two and four- ton block-busters on Stettin and Rostock, The Air Ministry said that each of the reids was success- ful, and that many industrial and war vlants were destroy- ed in the three cities. The number of bombers that participat- ed in the raids were not given, but the ministry said that ‘31 planes were lost. RETAIL AND WHOLESALE GROCERS HOLD CONFERENCE THIS MORNING Local grocers, retcil and wholesale, held a conference this morning in the Key West Chamber of Commerce offices with R. S. Miller, representative of the Food Distribution Ad- ministration in Florida, to discuss shortages of commodities in Key West. Paul G. Albury, who discussed the situation here with Mr. Miller when he was in Key West a few weeks ago, presided at the meeting. It was decided, following a lengthy discussion, to organize a foods industry committee in Key West for the purpose of co- ordineting the efforts of grocers in obtaining foodstuffs of a general nature. Mr. Miller said he felt confident that, with such a committee operating efficiently, the food situation in Key West will be improved in every way. The committee, it was stated, will be in a position to keep its fingers on the commodity market in Key West, and just as soon as t'>re is an indication of an impending shortage in any foodstuff, action can be taken immediately to ocercome it. ; } HARRIET HUBBARD AYER g NEW Yor«-panis+ LO!
