The opinion is general that General Henri Honore Giraud will be named to succeed Dar- lan. Giraud is said to be ex- ceedingly popular among the French in occupied France, as well as those in French North Africa and French West Africa. Some minor difficulties may jarise because of the position of General DeGualle, leader of the “Bree French” ever since the fies were driven from France. 1é belief is that those differ- ences will be ironed out and that Giraud will be finanimous- ily elected. It is added that his election will further consolidate the French in Africa with the jeause of the Allied Nations. vwvvvvvT vv TIRE REPAIRS; | (Dill Electric Vulcanized) | Lou Smith Auto Service Phone No. 5 White at Fleming ae be! 1 destroyed two jorge supply barges NEGROES IN ARMED SERVICES | Regroes are actively engaged against the enemy in North Africa. | MAIN PURPOSE IS TO NAME /ed in their garages on Christmas Eve and Christmas, the fatalities STILL ADVANCE H (By Axsociated Prens) 1 Mi | ish forces are continuing their ad-|° “iberia’s monetary headaches. | | many are being buried in the in| Germany's war and industrial | Bitish have made contact several | “great extent”, but Germar Japs, all of which retreated slow-j pofit to souvenir-seeking white | is manpower. : in occupied H Germany for forced labor, thereby | It was announced officially that | of men for the army, particularly | {ther fighting against the Japs in} the Government’s Conser-}} British land forces came up, so at Car Barn in Tripoli harbor yesterday, it! | was officially L { WASHINGTON.—There are just as many negroes in the coun- — iS Se | try’s armed services. in proportion to registration, as there) FRENCH LEADERS are white men. it was stated here today.
