TAYLOR ant versus | ANGELA H. RITTER, et al | TO: Angela H. Ritter, Box 441, B. P. While the National ‘and Amer- ican League champions battle for honors in the World Series at Ebbets Field tomorrow, Key West baseball fans will have an opportunity to watch just as tough a “series” at Price Field on Trumbo Island. The players kere are not men‘ who make a living playing base- bali but are just a bunch of fel- lows who love the game and play just for the sport—and they really do play ball The first game tomorrow will pit the Trojans against the Pan- dora Bears. “Bubber” Wiekers, pitcher-manager of the Trojans, will mount the hill for his club, and “Red” McKay will toss ‘em over for the Bears. Wickers and McKay are com- petent enough on the mound to earn a living with their throw- ing ability but both retain their amateur status by choice. The two have “lecked horns”: cin( a number of tight games and it ‘ is still a toss up as to which one is the better pitcher or whom has the best support. ® The Bears, only service base- ball team in the city, are anxious to make a good showing against the local nines and to remain in shape as a constant challenger to any other service team im the state. The second game between Key West Concks and the Regulars may develop into anything. Roy Hamlin, Conch manager, may + start amy one of his pitching taff against Paul Albury’s boys —and a tough fight will prob- ably result. Regulars, off to a bad start with two lossess and no victories, will be out with vim and vigor and whatever else it takes to start winning ball gafmes. The curtain will rise on the “Key West Series” at 1:30 p. m. The second game is scheduled to get under way at 4:00 p. m.
