Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday as his team | moved a full game ahead of the idle St. Louis Cards. Reiser’s winning home run came after the Pirates had been forced to use four pitehers in. ty- ing thingsgip at 5-all in their half of the ninth. Trailing by twe runs after the Pirates’ share of the second, the Dodgers moved back with Ducky Medwick's second inning homer, then added three more runs in the third. The Brooklyns scored one more in the fifth, and the Pirates tallied in the seventh and twice in the ninth, Hugh Casey, whe relieved “Fat Freddy” Fitzsimmons in the ninth, was given credit for the win, while ‘Max Butcher, who took over for the Pirates in the eighth, was charged with the loss, In addition to Butcher, the Pirates used Johnny Lanning, Aldon Wilkie and Lloyd Dietz. Reds Win Twice ‘The Cincinnati Reds, utilizing 14 hits and eight of their op- ponents’ errors, blasted the Phila- | delphia Phillies, 13 to 5, in one ame and shaded them by a 5-4 count in the nightcap. ‘The Reds, trailing by three runs as they entered the seventh inning in the second game, tallied four times to take the lead and the game. The Phillies had gone out in front when Nick Etten cracked a homer with a man aboard in the third. The New York Giants, showing | some of their early season punch, trimmed the Chicago Cubs in two, ‘winning by scores of 6 to 4, and 7 to 1. Larry French, Cub pitcher, gave up 13 hits in the final game. €t.
