The group of a mother and three children, the youngest of whom was pushed along the roads in a crude carriage, stop at a welfare station outside of Chungking to receive bowls of rice | which provide them with a full day's subsistence, The long} hard trek into the interior is made by these war- wracked people in search. of both safety and the opportunity to rehabilitate, themselves... War separated families, such as these, are aided by the Church Committee for China Relief, which provides food and shelter and medical aid to the destitute without regard to religious belief..
