Mercy! what a town, my wife remarked — overnight enough for me but I induced her lto stay a week. I was never in a night club in my life. I do not know the dif- ference between a cock-tail lounge and one occupied with cock- roaches. Fishing is my greatest pastime as it is of a large per- centage of the tourists sojourning in Key West. The next morning we drove north to fish and met |Pinder’s road crew repairing one of the wooden bridges. I inquired of them if they could direct me to good fishing. They did, di- recting me to a certain bridge and a certain span. Success was mine with a nice catch of three varic- ties. We enjoyed the day tayed \a week—two—three and a month | At the end of the month we were lreluctant to go for we had found much of interest in Key West and enjoyed her friendly people. As with myself, the mass of those that visit Key West cannot afford sport-boat fishing. These people are worth catering to; they keep house, buying their supplies from | the local merchants—are integral units of the community. To me, it seems poor policy to beg them to come to Key West, then, soak them for coming (which applies to all Florida). Tell them that is U.S. S. Remember, that too often last- ilege. one’s first impression is the ing one. Pindei road crew gave jus the proper impression We came back the next winter for four months and now maintain a home here and have spent thousands of dollars in Key West improve- , ments. The first im- pression has lasted. I make frequent trips north and I notice the bridges are posted “spe Bs Tam very sure that if I kept within that limit I'd never have an accident or hit a fisherman. Why not en- force that speed ? There would be no wrecks or fishermen hurt. Too, the motorman:has his. horn for warning Up beyond the toll gate I notice bridges not posted. I wonder if him women. Both Mrs. Dahle ana| the notices have been knocked off or if they have more pull up that way. I notice many businesses along the road catering to the wants of fishermen. Again these fishermen provide much revenue in gasoline tax going forth and back. Let’s think twice before we chase those fishermen off the bridges, they may winter in Fort Pierce next winter.
