Offutt, head of the sport in Key West. In the thirty games played during the half, seven teams scored a total of 2121 points, 941; field goals and 239 foul shots. League average in foul shoot- ing was 41.9%, a creditable show- ing. Of the 570 fouls recorded, 466 were personal. High School topped the clubs in foul shooting with an average of 47.2. Students successfully sunk 52 charity tosses out of a possible 110. Pepper’s Plumbers had a better average than the School five, 48.4, but were drop- ped from the league several games before the completion of the first- half, Pipe-Fitters took only 66 chances. U.S. Marines, champions of the initial half of the split sched- ule, led in scoring with 466 points. Runners-up Lions placed second —69 markers in the rear of the Devil Dogs or possessing a total of 397 points. High School wound up in third place, just 17 points in back of the Lions. The league's fourth club in games won and lost were paced by Anthony Mc- Mahon with 138 markers, highest of any player in the circuit. Lowest scoring club was the VP53, which played only five games. VP33 replaced the 53’s at the midway mark and ovtscored their fellow airmen, 153 to 133 points, in the same number of contests.
