This was the first visit here of Mr. Ortiz in five years. Dur- ing that time he traveled to Eu- rope on five trips made by an oil tanker out of Philadelphia and was also employed by the P. & O. S. S. We shall never forget them and our appreciation and gratitude shall linger in our hearts fof ever. Especially do we wish to thank Dr. Anthony P. Rubino, the nurses and the attendants at the U. S. Marine Hospital, whose constant attention and concern over his condition did so much to alleviate the tenseness of such an ordeal, and the kind and con- siderate services of Lopez Funeral Home. May we also thank the donors of cars and floral offer- ings. God bless you. MRS. LOUISA SANDS AND FAMILY. jly29-1tx NOTICE! NOTICE! BLITZKRIEG HIT STREETS: Editor, Key West Citizen: If something isn’t done to remedy streets soon, the merchants and business men of this city may just as well make up their minds now to face a slump in the tourist business next winter. No doubt, the first impression a stranger gets when he drives in is that one of Hitler’s Blitzkriegs has taken place here. Most of the streets look as though they have been used for bombing practice. Every Key West car owner should flatly refuse to pay the $3.00 city tax this year until something is done to put the streets in better condition. Even if the holes are filled with mud they will be a lot better than they are now. A CITIZEN. July 26th, 1940.
