Roy Bell was the hero of the game with his three-run homer in the eighth inning that gave the Tribe the margin of victory. New York” Yankees switched on their power attack yesterday amd defeated the Detroit Tigers, 12 to 7. Yanks collected 17 hits in the game. Philadelphia Athletics over- whelmed the Chicago White Sox, 12 to 1, vesterday. Lee Ross held the Sox to four hits. Brooklyn went further into the lead in the senior circuit yester- day with a 10 to 8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. A_ big fourth thning in which five runs were scored was the chief attack that spelled victory for the Dod- gers.
