SOCIETY :-: | NOTES OF TODAY | | Card Party Friday | BORROWS IDEA Alumni Association Reunion Dinner Highlighted Co Highlight in the social aspect! of commencement week was the} Annual Banquet and Dance given in honor of the 1940 graduates at the Rainbow Dining Room of} Hotel La Concha by the Key West High School Alumni Association. Attendance at this affair broke all previous records as it was es- timated that there were over 200 in attendance. Joe Allen, president of the as-| sociation, acted as master of ceremonies and welcomed the class of 1940 into the organiza- tion. Jack Murray, president of the senior class, responded, thanking the Alumni in behalf of his class- mates. Reviewing the members in at- tendance according to their re- spective c , it was found that Ben Saunders, member of the class of 1925, represented the oldest class by his presence. Representing the faculty of Key West High School, Earl Fowler told the gathering of his pleasant experiences and as- sociations with Key West stu- dents. H Honored guests of the associa- | tion were Professor and Mrs. Horace O’Bryant. Professor O’Bryant spoke briefly on the showing made by Key West High School in the an- nual placement tests taken by students all over the state. He showed that in most cases local students ranked above the aver- age after figures had been com- piled for the entire state. Complimenting the Alumni As- sociation on the excellent affair, Professor O'Bryant brought out the importance of an event of this nature. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph headed the committee on ar- rangements and were compli- mented on the success of the oc- casion. Mrs. Hastings Piodela played dinner music during the banquet and Barroso’s Orchestra furnished music for dancing. Among those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. W.
