PAGE FOUR :-: SOCIETY $:-: Good Attendance Enjoyed Players’ One-Act Performances Last Night Key West Players scored anoth- er decided hit with their three one-act pla presented last eve- ning at Harris school auditorium. Approximately the same number of patrons were in attendance as at the first production six weeks ago, and all appeared to enjoy the plays immensely. Many new actors and actresses were presented by the Players in the plays given, Janice White, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Carleton, Gertrude Ricketts, Bar- bara Carey, Maudie Johnson, Catherine Reid, Richard Craig and Theone Lloyd. The Camberley Ss, as its name im- a production dealing with triangle—a woman In this case, Guy Carleton, acting in superb style, 2 lover who stepped in wife, played by Janice as feeling lonesome for somebody in that her husband, Gerard Bogart, had been absent for three years. Upon the hus- band’s return, however, all the wife’s lover could say, when it agreed that each would ve minutes with “object d'amour —“Well, what'll we do no’ Moral—he should have made ardent love to the maid. The husband w out, as you can imagine. This play was directed by Mrs. Rob Roy Ricketts. The second play, the hit of the evening nsofar impressive yas concerned, was called and was V. Little. Her sup- | port was very capable, with Pa Fishyer, played by Winslow Pet- tingill; Annie, the wayward daughter, by Barbara Carey; the neighbor, by Maudie Johnson, and James Gerberding and Cath- erine Reid, son and social work- er, respectively. The play dealt with an over- bearing father’s control of his family and the mother’s efforts to cover up the actions of her wayward daughter. And the mother’s patient handling of the family troubles was rewarded in, the end. The final play, “A House of Cards”, had most of the audience guessing as to its meaning. Di- rected by James Gerberding, the players, man and wife, Richard Craig and THeone Lloyd, pre- sented a very creditable perform-} ance as they reminisced about the past. The wife was listing all the attributes of the man she didn’t marry, the while strange noises were heard offstage. Fi- nally, the husband declared that “somebody is in the house”, and, upon investigation, staggered back into the room to create the “surprise ending that stirred emotions of the audience” exact- ly as described in advance notices. WPA orchestra played a de- lightful number before and in- between the plays, directed by George Mills White. Scenery was splendid and all details of property were well handled.
