As always, the hall was filled with laughter and the gaiety which filled the hearts of all, and the continuous buzz of voices that recounted the happenings since the last” ‘meeting. ere were many present “who had been absent from, the city, ‘for years. An address’ was given by Mrs. E. J. Bayly, president, who wel- comed all back to Alma Matér and especially new: members and the graduating class. Letters and} telegrams from absent members| were read. A short business session was} held in the course of which the} same officers were elected. They ; are: Mrs. Lopez Johnson, honor- ary president; Mrs. E. J. Bayly, president; Miss Emma _ Curry,| vice-president; Mrs. Stephen | Lowe, treasurer; Mrs. Paul E., Newhouse, secretary, and Miss Margarita Lacedonia, reporter. Games were played and prizes awarded. Miss Mary E. Whalton won first prize, Miss Edna Gato, second prize, and Miss Mary June Crusoe, consolation. A most delicious refreshment course was served in a’ banquet hall beauti- fully decorated with the alumnae colors, blue and gold, and flowers | which harmoniously carried out} this color scheme. Of especial interest was the fact that several members of families were present; most notable of which were four daughters of Mr. and Mrs. B. This in spite of the fact that the} government literally took over the city five years ago and has been improving it ever since. A large submarine base, but not one submarine. There are miles'of sewers, but no connections. Cesspools _ still are in use in Key West. Only salt water is ob-| tainable from taps in the houses and hotels, only the Casa Marina is able to offer its guests fresh running water.
