PAGE FOUR GOBS MUST PAY OR STAY IN JAIL SENTENCE PASSED IN CRIM- INAL COURT ON CAR THEFT CHARGE Two sailors were given their choice of paying $25 and costs each or serving 60 days in eoun- ty jail after they pleaded guilty this morning before Judge Wil liam ‘V. Albury of Criminal Court to charges of using the property of another without consent. The sailors are E. W. Usher and F. W. Waldschmidt. They were still in county jail this afternoon while their friends made an at- tempt to raise the money to pay the fines and costs. According to the evidence the} two men’ drove off from the Du- val street boxing arena Wednes- day night in a car owned by Manuel Rodriguez. Later they were caught at revolver point by Night Police Captain Alberto Camero. Arraigned yesterday before | Peace Justice Franklin Arenberg, the men were held for action of | the Criminal Court. They were taken to county jail and held there after their arrest when nav- al officers entered no_ protest against arraignment of the pair by the civil authorities. The sheriff's office is making an effort to break up the practice of driving cars without permis- sion of the owners. Owners are warned to keep their cars locked. Unlocked ca are held by aui- thorities to be a temptation. “Easter Week Programs At Division School Two very interesting recholic} day programs were presented by the pupils of Division Street School during the past week. Miss Susie Gardner’s first | grade gave a Dutch play follow- | ing a study of child life in Hol-| land. This little play was en- titled “We Like Windmills”. On the stage were three large wind- mills which actually turned. } Across the front of the stage was a canal in which sailboats sailed, | and along which gay tulips nodded their heads. Two American children visited Holland. They were Sue Lasit- ter and Jack Wiley There they met the Wind, portrayed by Elsie Lee Thompson, and a group of Dutch children who acquainted them with the ways of Dutch people Pupils appearing as Dutch chil-| dren were: Zola Marie Camus, Fay Clark, Delores Gomez, Diana Gonzalez, Daniel Estevez, Norma Watson, Don Williams, Gary Thompson, Fred Schenck, Sonny Roberts and Peter Diaz. The sailboats that sailed down the canal we Terry Doughtry and Albert Key. The Easter program was in charge of Miss Gladys Pinder's fourth grade. Their play was] called, “Have You Seen The} Easter Rabbit?”, and depicted a} search by Peggy and Jimmy for} the Easter Rabbit, “or if you can| find him before er it will bring you good luc! As these} two children, played by Mer-| s Bernal and Tom Villi- asanes, wandered through a field asking the spring flowers if they had seen the ter Rabbit they! came upon an elf sleeping under | a huge toadstool. This elf, be-| ing of a kindly nature, aided} them in their search. After) much patient questioning of the various awakening flowers, the| Rabbit was found under the elf’s very own toadstool. He pre- sented each with a_ brightly colored Easter egg, and their| quest w ended. The Easter |" Rabbit was represented by Ran- dall Wagner, the elf was Sergio De La Guerra. Rain fairies who awakened the flowers were: Rose | Marie Shanahan and Irene} Wright. Perhaps the fav- | orite choice is poultry, either chicken tr for master breakfast. Both turkeys and hams are low in price and either makes a@ festive dinner, says Miss Cora An- thony of the A&P Kitchen. Veal comes third in popularity. Thomas Hart and Thomas, Jr., of Wynnewood, Penna., fishing aboard Capt. Reggie Trevor's “Madeline” yesterday, had, to use Mr. Hart’s own expression, “the best fishing day of our lives” with a catch consisting of two uncommon fish, a four- teen-pound wahoo and a fif- teen-pound African pompano. In addition to these beau- ties of the deep, the pair caught two bonito, a baby shark and a few barracuda, one of the latter weighing twenty pounds. Emulating real sportsmen, most of the barracudas were released. Mr, and Mrs. Hart and family, regular yearly visi- tors in Key West, are enthus- iastic endorsers of the “‘fish- ing superiority” of local wa- ters. In the summer-time they fish out of Cape May, N.
