A certain Lion of the local club had it told to him before the whole membership at. the supper- meeting Thursday—and it goes like this: “A warrant officer had been promoted to chief gunner on a certain ship in the navy, and, in anticipation of all the benefits of his new position, which included a new rating for mess, he order- ed that the steward ‘strut his stuff’ in giving him service that was his due. ; “All went quite well at his in- auguration meal as a ranking of- ficer until it came to the coffee course. When he lifted the sugar- bowl lid, he discovered just plain granulated sugar to be therein. Then he exploded. “Where’s my Officer's Sugar’, he demanded to know.” “Upon inquiry it developed |that, as a lower-grade officer, he had once seen an officer’s table, and he noticed that the sugar used by his superior officer was cube sugar. Not just plain granu- lated sugar, the kind he had been using all of his navy-life to date. “T want my ‘Officer’s Sugar’, was his demand”. And the story told Thursday by Commander Byrns was by way of chiding the club program chairman—that certain Lion—for not. seeing to it that the Lions Club’s “steward” had “Officer’s Sugar” for him. \Everready Stars Meet Tomorrow * Regular monthly meeting of the Everready Star Club will be held tomorrow afternoon, at 3:30 o’clock at the home of the presi- dent, Mrs. G.
