PAGE FOUR CONVENT SCHOOL OPENS ON SEPT. 5 TWO OTHER CATHOLIC INSTI- TUTIONS OPERATED BY SISTERS ; Convent of Mary Immaculate will begin its 72nd schciastic year on Tuesday, September 5. The high school is accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. This ac- creditation allows its pupils to enter college without taking ex- aminations. This institution is so well known to the people of Key West that there is no need of going in- to details about the course of study, it is shown. Besides the high school and grammar grades, it has a com-| plete course of music, including piano, organ and all the stringed instruments. Art is also a lead- ing feature in the school and les- sons are given in drawing, cray- on work and China painting. There is also a complete kinder- garten course for pupils between three and five years of age. All pupils attending the regu-| lar sessions are required to wear | the uniform of the school. Par- ents are asked to see that their | children conform to this regula- tion. In the latter part of the after- noon, classse will be offered in|} bookkeeping, stenography, busi-| ness arithmetic, business English, ete. Since only a limited num- ber can be received in these classes, students are advised to Tegister as early as possible. St. Joeph School for boys and St. Francis Xavier School for colored children are also directed by Sisters of the Holy Names. Marriage License Issued Yesterday Charles F. Reeves, meteorolo- gist at the U. S. Weather Bureau and’ Miss «Vivian S. Freeman, yesterday afternoon secured a marriage license in- the office of County Judge Raymond R. Lord. It was said today at the weath- er bureau office that Mr. Reeves and Miss Freeman will leave for Miami where ‘the marriage cere- mony will. be performed to- morrow. SCOUT NEWS TROOP 52 HELD MEETING FRIDAY NIGHT By John Marzyck Troop 52 held its regular meet- ing Friday night at 7:30 o’clock in its headquarters. The meeting was opened with the Scout Oath, Laws and Motto. Then the flags-were brought in and the salute was given.
